Meet Jake

I make art that focuses on the love, pain, and connection that makes a person who they are. I believe in telling those stories about self expression, cheesy romance, and that nostalgic sense of wonder that we're born with. When I direct I encourage actors to be themselves and more. I believe in drawing out the natural talents and instincts of actors to make a character truly, naturally theirs.

I am a director.

I write stories about real, vibrant souls. I write plays where the characters write themselves. I let my characters grow without bounds, I even let them grow to godly proportions. I let characters' personalities create conflict, and much like us living people their conflict is a result of their unique personalities. When I write I encourage myself to let go, especially when it doesn’t make sense. I believe in unrestricted creation, that tells heartwarming tales. I believe a truthful and honest story tells itself.

I am a writer.

I take characters and text, and I work (and rework) them into polished, yet fluid, real living and reacting people. I monologue and dialogue, and sometimes, under special circumstances, I even use iambic pentameter when I feel particularly Shakespearean. I am in love with the challenge of being someone else, but still myself. When not riding the arcs of a script, I improvise and embrace the chaos of comedy. I exploded with characters, voices, laughter, and a shockingly inaccurate New York style accent, though I’ve only been there once. Nevertheless, I tell stories.

I am an actor.
